Quote: Pray Perfect Prayers in the Spirit

7 Aug

“Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” – Roms 8:27

Wouldn’t you like to pray effective prayers that are always in line with the will of God and which always hit the mark?  Well, when you pray in the Spirit, you can.

You see, when we pray in English or our known language, and according to our limited understanding, we can pray amiss.  Sometimes, our heads get in the way and we find ourselves asking, “Isn’t it selfish of me to pray like this?” or “Am I praying in line with God’s will?”

My friend, that is why God gives us the gift of praying in tongues.  When we pray in tongues or in the Holy Spirit, we can never pray out of God’s will because the Holy Spirit “makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God”.

In other words, we pray perfect prayers in line with God’s will when we pray in tongues.  And the Bible goes on to tell us that “if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him”. (1 John 5:14–15)

Isn’t it wonderful that God has put in you the Holy Spirit who prays perfectly?  He knows the heart of God and precisely what you need.  And He makes intercession for you because He loves you very much.

The Holy Spirit is like your lawyer or legal counselor.  He knows what belongs to you legally.  He knows what your blood-bought rights are in Christ.  Best of all, He knows exactly how to enforce them in your life!

Beloved, when you pray in tongues, you allow the Holy Spirit to pray perfect prayers through you.  He pleads your case before God.  He knows where you have gone wrong and what the root of the problem is.  He also has the wisdom, solution and power to win your case.  With the Holy Spirit on your side, you cannot but come out victorious!

The Spirit’s Rest And Refreshing

“For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, to whom He said, “This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest,” and, “This is the refreshing”…” — Isa 28:11-12

To counter stress, many people resort to tobacco, alcohol or tranquilizers. These things, besides having harmful side effects, are costly and often lead to addictions.

God has something better for us. It is powerful, costs us nothing and has no harmful side effects. He calls it “the rest” and “the refreshing”. What is He referring to? Speaking in tongues—“For with stammering lips and another tongue…”

My friend, this is the rest and the refreshing which God has promised us. So start praying in tongues regularly, and let His rest and peace saturate your entire being!

Pray Up Your Immune System!

“He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself…”  I Cor 14:4

Many Charismatics believe that when you speak in tongues, you edify or build up your spirit man.  Well, that is only one-third true.  The Bible does not say that the speaker edifies his spirit. No, it says that the speaker “edifies himself”.  This means his entire self—spirit, soul and body.  So he who speaks in tongues builds up his spirit, soul and body.

Does this include building up your immune system?  Yes, it does!  Brain specialists at Oral Roberts University’s hospital found out through research and testing that when a person prays in tongues, his brain releases two chemicals that are directed to his immune system, giving it a 35 to 40 per cent boost.  Interestingly, these secretions are triggered by a part of our brain that has no other apparent activity and which is activated only when we pray in tongues.

Now, your immune system is your first line of defense against diseases.  During the SARS outbreak in Singapore in 2003, not everyone who had the disease died.  Only those whose immune systems were weak succumbed to the disease and died.  Therefore, many people resorted to vitamins and herbs to boost their immune systems.

A 74-year-old church member decided to build up his immune system against more heart problems.  Two of his arteries were 70 per cent blocked and five smaller vessels were 80 per cent blocked.  So during a church service, when I asked those who wanted to be healed of heart problems to stand up, he stood up, placed his hand over his heart and prayed in tongues.

He shared that at that moment, he believed that the Holy Spirit touched him and he became a different person.  When he went for his medical check-up, his surgeon found that all the blockages in his blood vessels were gone!  Even a scheduled heart-related operation was cancelled as there was no longer any necessity for it.  Indeed, he was a different person. He literally had a change of heart, a new heart from God!

Beloved, you may not have a heart condition, but you can still pray in tongues and pray up your immune system!

Pray Perfect In The Spirit

Tongues – Accessing Encouragement and Wisdom from Heaven

9 May

Who gets all the encouragement we need?  Want more?  God has made a way for us to get encouraged anytime we want. Try 1 Cor 14:4, “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself” and Jude 1:20, “build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.”  Isn’t it amazing that God made a way for us to get encouraged!  And we don’t even need another person to express a gushing feeling about us… we just need to pray in our Heavenly language.

So how do we get encouraged when we pray in the Spirit?  1 Cor 14:2 says, “For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God… he utters mysteries with his spirit.”  When we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, He now resides in us in fuller measure.  When we pray in our Heavenly language, the Holy Spirit is praying through our spirit to God.  When He is praying through us, the ‘by-product’ is that our spirit gets encouraged by God’s Spirit.

Now that’s good ‘medicine’ right there.  God says, “Take a few moments to pray in your Heavenly language and call Me the morning”.  Fun, huh?

Furthermore, as those who have been commissioned to re-present God on the earth, we need Heaven’s wisdom for our lives… and for a needy world.  So how do we get wisdom and understanding?  When we use our Heavenly language, access is created into the Spirit realm.  While speaking those “mysteries to God” Paul goes on to say that we should ask to understand what we’re saying: 1 Cor. 14:13 “For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says.”   For wisdom from ‘out of this world’, try ‘listening in’ to our spirit and God’s Spirit communing.

Thus Heavenly understanding is available for us while using our Heavenly language.  And as evidence, consider this; Apostle Paul, who wrote the largest part of the New Testament also spoke in tongues more than everyone… I Cor 14:18  “I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.”  Is this just a coincidence that the one who spoke in tongues more than anyone also wrote the largest part of the Bible?

Would you like more encouragement and wisdom from Heaven?  Then consider following Paul’s personal practice… and his desire for you, found in I Cor 14:5, “I would like every one of you to speak in tongues.”

What a ‘tough job’ we’ve got… letting Holy Spirit pray through us back to Father!  You just gotta love God’s strategy, how He makes it possible for us to get encouraged while we’re doing His business.  Crazy cool!  And think of this; when Holy Spirit prays, He always prays the very best prayers; He always prays in accordance with the will of God; He ALWAYS gets the answers to His prayers and He always encourages us as He prays.  Now who couldn’t like that?

Yay, Holy Spirit!  I love the way You pray… and how You encourage me and give me understanding when You pray through me.  Thank you!

“This Is That” Age

20 Aug

Peter stood up at Pentecost and without mincing any words declared of the unprecedented outpouring of the Holy Spirit, This is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel”. (Joel 2:28)  In like manner, when we consider Eph 2:7, could we declare as strongly, “This is that age which was spoken of by the apostle Paul?”

“So that in the ages to come the exceeding riches of His grace may be shown toward us in Christ Jesus.” — Eph 2:7

What can we ‘mine’ out of this verse?

1. There are different ages (epochs… or eras) in history.
2. There are at least two more “ages” after the age that Paul was living in.
3. And in at least two (or all) of those future ages “exceeding riches of grace” will be shown/manifest toward those who are in Christ Jesus.
4. It seems to indicate that there will be an emergence of greater… or exceeding riches of grace in these future ages.
5. This exceeding Grace is shown to those who are IN (the ‘bloodline’ of) Christ Jesus.

Comments: We’re living on the threshold of a brand new “age” (the Kingdom era) and are about to experience the ramping up of Grace unto the level of “exceeding riches of Grace”.  That would explain the keen interest and greater emphasis on Grace which is currently proliferating around the globe.  Our Father knows that revelation comes by hearing so He’s exposing and saturating His people in the rich rhema of Grace. (see Rms 10:17)  And of course, rhema is followed by transformation.

Conclusion: With these things in mind, prepare for our paradigms of Grace to be radically enhanced and for Grace’s resulting freedoms to stretch us… and maybe even offend us at times. View the latest video entitled, “Father of Lights” and be impacted by the freedom… even lavish freedom… with which Heaven showers goodness on the pre-saved… with no strings attached.  Our Father is so good!  We’re in for an exciting and wild ride of epoch proportions.  I declare that “this is that” age which Paul spoke of where the “exceeding riches of His Grace” are poured out upon the earth so much so that in five years we’ll hardly be able to believe what we’ve come to believe about Amazing Grace.

DPM Update – 2012 July #2

Dear Friends

Grace Unto Co-Reigning
(Check out the inspirational reading at the bottom)

House church
We’ve hosted several house churches in our home recently and were surprised by the amount of grace and life in those gatherings.  Stay tuned for more periodic spontaneous gatherings.

LA / San Diego trip
Last week we were in CA on another wild ride adventure.  Ya just gotta love God’s ways.  Jesus said, “The Holy Spirit is like the wind, you don’t know where it comes from or where it goes.”  I think He’s saying, if you’re gonna move with Holy Spirit then the name of the game is ‘flex’.  Fun, fun.

Behold Conf
It was a pleasure to join Luke and Lydia and friends in Pasadena at the Behold conf where David Brymer, Misty Edwards, Will Matthews and Lou Engle were featured. Lou was as good as we’ve ever heard him. Always great to see our kids ‘in action’… to applaud and cheer for them.

Impact church
Our dear friends Jack Lee and Annie Wang have a church in North LA of mostly Asian youth.  Our hearts have been dearly knit to them over the last 6 or 8 years with many precious God-times / family times together.  Jack and Annie are moving to Taiwan in Sept so we gave them lots of hugs and are processing with them God’s plan for Impact Church.  Your prayers for these changes are much appreciated.

Hispanic relationships
In San Diego, we have strangely and quickly become good friends with a pretty wide cross-section of the Hispanic church community.  It’s rather remarkable how our hearts have been knit with them… especially several young leaders from different churches.  I feel this ‘father’ thing for them and they’re response is unusually warm.  We hung out together in several meetings, one notable one was in a house church where Heavenly Father affirmed all of them so tenderly… accompanied with many tears.  One thing that endears my heart toward them is that they are leaders… and they’re fighting all kinds of ‘religious’ and cultural norms to find the fresher and free-er life of God for their groups.  Man, can I relate to that… which makes me want to come alongside them.  So, there will no doubt be more interaction ahead.

Worship over San Diego
On our last day, Dave and Ann Clark hosted a worship event in Balboa Park on the outdoor Spreckles Organ Pavilion stage.  William Matthews, Mark Riley and the team (including Luke & Lydia) led worship for about 1 ½ hours while many park visitors got ‘trapped’ by the worship… and just had to ‘soak’ for a while.  This is the very same stage that Aimee Semple McPherson preached to over 30,000 people in the 1920s.  Our objective was to fill the San Diego atmosphere with worship. What a privilege to be a part of this!

Life church
Tomorrow, Deb, John, Cheryl, Aslan and I are going to join our dear friends in Nevada, MO to lead worship and guest speak.  It’ll be so great to refresh the relationships that were formed during our nearly two years of pastoring there.

Kevin Dedmon meetings next weekend
For those of you looking for the ‘hot-spot’ meetings, we’d love to suggest Springfield, MO at Dayspring Church July 27-29 where Kevin Dedmon (from Bethel – Redding, CA) will be speaking all weekend.  There will be MANY healings, lots of FREEDOM, laughter… and the ‘good stuff’ that we’ve come to love.  We’ll be there.  For more info: Dayspring Church

Grace Unto Co-Reigning!
One of the main messages of the hour is the message of Grace!!!!  Grace is the KEY into our future!!!  The message of Grace centers around Jesus… what He did for us and His nature now in us (II Cor 5:21). It’s not by our works or righteousness (Tit 3:5) that we get anywhere in God.  It’s by Jesus’ works and HIS righteousness.

The body of Christ is transitioning from an inward focused Church in the ‘Church Age’ into an outward focused Church learning to rule in a ‘Kingdom Era’.   To do this we MUST get the revelation of Grace.

The past Church Age was about trying to save people from hell.  “Don’t you know, you’re going to hell? Do you want to go to Heaven?  You must get saved.  Come to church.”  This mindset largely centered on, “We’re sinners and need God” which was very true.  But it kept us in the ‘I am a sinner (barely) saved by grace’ mindset.  We were self-pre-occupied with our sins, unworthiness, failure prone-ness, and need for a Savior.  All of this is very true and necessary… necessary for our first steps toward Salvation and entering the body of Christ.  But we can’t just ‘camp out’ under the Cross, focusing on our fallen-ness… just as Jesus didn’t stay on the Cross, dying and dead.  He was buried, rose, was glorified and ascended to the right hand of God.  “If we be buried with Christ shall we not also be raised with Christ” (Col 2:12).  This is how God sees us… as being raised and seated with Him.  We must follow Jesus… in our heart and minds, emotions and actions… it must affect our whole reality.

In the Kingdom Era the church transitions out of sinner mentality and the ‘everything-must-happen-inside-the-four-walls-of-the-church’ mindset.  We begin to discover and understand how to co- reign (with Jesus) out in the ‘kingdoms’ of this world.  We are kings and priests unto our God (Rev 5:10)… holy nation, royal priesthood (I Pet 2:9), etc.  To rule well, we cannot be beggars, paupers, nor have a sinner mentality… not if we’re going to rule with Jesus. Beggars make very poor rulers… they focus too much on themselves.  It’s all about ‘poor’ me.  Godly rulers are humbly confident in who they are in Christ, which enables them to be able to rule well.  Of course we’re not talking about pride, arrogance or presumption… we’re talking about believing exactly what God says about us.  We’re seated with Christ in Heavenly places (Eph 2:6)… and hidden with Christ in God (Col 3:3).  This is where we are currently!!   We must get a renewed mind (Rms 12:2) until we have the mind of Christ on these matters (I Cor 2:16).  Then we can progress to learning to co-reign (Dan 7:27)… which is where we are ultimately headed.

Learning to rule over our own minds, mindsets and lives comes first… not by focusing on our sins, but upon Jesus’ righteousness.
Thought: Undue introspection, self-consciousness and self-preoccupation are a form of idolatry.
Truth: What we behold determines who we become.  We’re learning to be free from self and sin consciousness (because of Grace) and learning to be Jesus and righteousness conscious.

We’re headed toward co-reigning with Jesus, so we must first agree with Jesus about His thoughts concerning this.  Then we must see ourselves as living IN and FROM Heaven versus from earth…since we’re seated in Heavenly places… and hidden with Christ in(side of) God.  Our posture and perspective must become living and praying FROM victory rather than FOR victory… remember, we’re seated with Christ… He’s already conquered.

Question: Can there be any real defeat or problems when we’re seated with Him?  Can there be any void or lack if we’re hidden with Christ in Him?  Pretty big stuff here.  This truth must become the governing reality of our minds, hearts, and words… our whole life.

This is our new M.O. (mode of operation) for the coming era.  Most of us agree with these things theologically… and we can even quote these verses.  But the truth of whether we really believe them or not becomes evident in our prayers.  Listen to ourselves pray the next time we pray.  What perspective do we pray from… from earth… or from Heaven?  For victory… or from victory?  From favor… or for favor?  Do we pray asbeggars… begging God for another morsel or breakthrough?  Or do we prophesy, declare and release… like kings do?

We’re in a huge learning mode right now… and we’ve got LOTS to learn.  But this is SO good!  God’s heart is so much better than we thought!  I’m confident that what we now think is emphasizing ‘too much Grace’, will in five years become our normal and easily embrace-able Grace.  It will radically revolutionize the way we walk out our lives before God and man.  This is the KEY to having confidence to co-reign with God.

Grace and ‘Kingdom co-reigning’ messages will become much more center-stage in our near future.  Our hearts will explode with joy when we discover that this is the ‘air’ that we were made to breathe!!!
