Eyesight restored!

18 Jan

Somewhere around 10 years ago, my great friend Barry, who is of senior age, began to lose his vision in his left eye.  He had already lost all sight in his right eye.  The doctors diagnosed him as having macular degeneration.  This is a malady for which the medical community has no cure.  His eyesight had degenerated to 20/70, which made driving a vehicle very difficult.

About 8 years ago, someone prophesied to him that if he laid his hands on his eyes and prayed for them, God would begin to heal them.

About a week later, while in a leader’s meeting, a friend came up to him and said, “God told me to kiss your eyes and that He would heal them.”  Barry’s reaction was “fat chance”, but as he thought about it, he thought this is just weird enough that it could be God.  So he let the friend kiss his eyes.

A day or so later, Barry was in a completely different meeting when a young lady came up to him and said, “I feel like I am to sing a song over you.”  So she sang a spontaneous song which ended with singing in tongues.  Then the young lady gave him a painting she had painted, entitled, ‘The Eye of God’ (below). This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is eye.jpg

Within another day or so another person in Sioux Falls prayed for his eyesight.  Afterward, she challenged him, “Call it ‘macular RE-generation’.”

About a week later, Barry had a routine Dr appointment and discovered that his eyesight had dramatically improved to 20/45.  He and his wife Mary, were elated.  Interestingly, his eyesight has continued to slowly improve to between 20/35 and 20/30 over the last 7 years.

But a week ago, some guests were in Barry’s home and asked him about the “Eye of God” painting.  Barry told the story and gave glory to God for the improvement of his eyesight.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” – Rev 12:11

Well, a few days later, he had another routine Dr appointment.  In the eye exam he read all the lines and then asked if there were more lines.  The assistant said, “No Barry, that means you have 20/20 vision!”  Shortly afterwards,  Doctor Sam who had been attending Barry over the years, walked in and exclaimed (I quote verbatim), “Barry, what the hell you been doing!?”  Barry laughed and replied, “It’s an answer to prayer… God is healing me.”  With resignation, Doctor Sam replied, “Well, I don’t have any other explanation.”

So through some strange… and even weird… installments, God has fully restored Barry’s eyesight in his left eye!!!

Now, that deserves a Hallelujah and a Thank You, Lord!!!

Me too. Two things I like best… When God touches me… or when God touches someone very near me. In both cases, it helps me know more convincingly of my one-ness with Him.
