SP True Stories: Email says, ‘House to gift’… “Yeah, right!”

30 Nov

(A testimony from friends)

We weren’t even looking for a house, when out of the blue an email arrived with the subject line that read, ‘House to Gift’.  We chuckled and thought, “Yeah, right!”  After reading and re-reading the email we decided to inquire as to why and how the sender even knew about us.

The owner, a doctor, had relocated to another city and had this house for sale for two years without success.  One day at church he was lamenting to someone that he wished it could be used for ministry.  They responded by asking if he had ever heard of the ServantCARE network ministry.  He had not.  They gave him a list of five ministries who offered ministry to missionaries and he sent the same email to all five.  Only two responded and came to see the house.  The other ministry recognized that it was a better fit for us and declined the offer.  After several months of prayer we finally accepted his offer.

The 6,000 sq ft home includes five bedrooms, 3 ½ baths and a 1000 sq ft detached garage… so it would require quite an undertaking to update and furnish.  We wanted to be sure it was a God assignment and not just a great offer.  Indeed, it was both!  Not only did the seller donate the home to the ServantCARE, but he paid all the closing costs and the first year’s insurance.  Since then, God has supernaturally provided for the updating and furnishing of the home in the most incredible ways.

God named the home ‘The Dwelling Place’ and told us that this home was to be available for the Body of Christ to come away to spend time with Him… or for personal/couples ministry.  We’re located at the foot of the bluffs in the small riverside village of Cassville, WI, just three blocks from the Mississippi River.  All are invited.

Laura, I have always loved how gracious you are!

Yes, another Dwelling Place… Hmmm Maybe God likes ‘dwelling places’. 🙂 Sounds a lot like Isa 66:1 – “”Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?”

The Lord bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you.

Great testimony of a good Papa! He knows what we need even when we didn’t know we needed it!
Larry and Anita are great hosts, too. A great place to get away with God.
